Methodology

Status, 30 October 2026: the price pipeline is built, but the first import has not run yet. Everything below describes how prices will be collected and calculated; there is no price history and no index value yet.

Where prices come from

Prices will come from retailers’ affiliate product feeds once we are accepted into their programs. Until then, prices can be entered manually from retailers’ public product pages. Every price needs two things to be published: a source (retailer and product page) and a timestamp. A price missing either is not shown.

We only list new, in-stock offers. Used, refurbished and marketplace offers are excluded.

How often prices update

Once a day (around 06:00 UTC), plus manual runs when needed.

What “as of” means

“As of” is the time we observed the price — shown in US Eastern time on US pages and UK time on UK pages. Retailer prices can change at any time; the price at checkout applies.

Price per TB and per GB

Price history and statistics (once data exists)

For each product we will keep the daily best price and show the 90-day minimum, maximum and median, and the 7- and 30-day change.

Price index (planned)

The price index (in preparation) will follow a fixed basket of products per segment and report the median of the daily best price per TB or GB, with the start date set to 100. When a product leaves the market it is replaced by a close equivalent, and the replacement is logged on this page. This is a retail index; it is not a NAND or DRAM contract-price index.

Quality control

A price that changes by more than 40% against the previous observation is held back for manual confirmation instead of being published automatically.

Disclaimer

Prices and availability are accurate as of the time shown and may change. The retailer’s price at the time of purchase applies.
